Arthur G. Shelley , Jr., 57, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at his Indianapolis home with his family at his side.He was born in Rochester, NY to Louise and Arthur Gibson, and was raised in Lakeland, Florida by Della and Arthur Shelley.After completing school with the Job Corps, he finished two years of college. He served his country honorably in the US Army.Shelley was a truck driver with Mohawk Industries, earning numerous driving awards. He was also an active member of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed the Brotherhood of the church.Shelley was a professional boxer and never lost his love for the sport. He also loved to travel with his beloved wife Mattie.Along with Mattie, Arthur leaves to cherish his memory:children Della Shelley, Raymond L Shelley, Maurice Shelley,Durwood Patton, Monica Patton, all of Indianapolis; 24 grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Whitehead.Arthur and Mattie would like to acknowledge Isom Jenkins for his help, and giving help where needed; and Eddie (wife Eva) Beauford; Jerriel (wife Virginia) McGill, Marion Thomas; Mattie Preston and Dionne Blackwell, and Mary Bones.Arthur and Mattie would also like to acknowledge the love to the family in Rochester, Chicago, Florida, and Atlanta.Viewing will be Mon, March 3, 2008 from 10-11am at Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, with the Homegoing Celebration beginning at 11:00am at the Church.He will be laid to rest with military honors at Marion National Cemetery.
